There was once a hole in a great big live oak tree. A perfect home for many animals. In late April of 2008 a few bees began to gather. They considered it a fine place to build their hive. Soon more and more bees joined them. There was lots of activity inside of the knot in the tree. So many bees came that the outside of the hole was covered in working bees. As the spring flowers bloomed the bees carried pollen into the tree. As soon as one bee landed we saw another take off on a journey for more pollen. In the month of May, some bees retired from their dedication to the hive. Bees began to drop in the pool and on the ground around the tree. Some bees flew away to new advetures. The beautiful hive was finished. In the end, we could tell a few bees stayed behind to make sure some new bees could use there hive next spring. Hope they love the hive as much as the bees that built it.
