Seeing B and L's beautiful new home brought back some memories...
Had a new baby, moved to an unfamiliar city far away from friends and family, in school, husband living out of a van during the school week, bought new house, Christmas time...
I had stood in line at Target on Black Friday to get this "Charlie Brown" Christmas tree for $30. We decorated it with lights and toilet paper because that is all we had.
And we were happy! Look at those darling smiles!

Oh, my goodness. What an adorable post. Tear...sniff. I needed to see this today! For a second I forgot about how blessed I am...how much the girls really wouldn't care if we spent nothing for Christmas and decorated with toilet paper. I was out scrounging at thrift stores and thinking about how amazing it would be to be rich and be able to buy my girls whatever they wanted for Christmas...feeling poopy that we are poor and have had 0 income for 2 months while Matt was out with his hernia surgery. I needed to see that cute picture of angel Katelyn and Amy (did she really once have chubby legs?) and bask in their shiny smiles. Thank you for this timely post! Love you all so much.
Amen! You guys were an amazing inspiration to me for many years and I still really love reading your blog and seeing your adventures. I wish you'd post more before/after remodeling stuff, because I am SURE it's happening. Still can't believe how gorgeous you made that house in Maitland.
