Amy's Surprise Party

A couple of months before her birthday Amy was telling me she wanted a surprise party for her birthday. I told her you can't "want a aurprise party"- then it won't be a surprise! her took her a month or so to grasp this concept and let the idea go. Then it was time for Katelyn and I to get bust planning her SUrPrisE PArTy!!!

We decided to copy Ethan's Minute to Win It idea. Katelyn made the guest list. I delivered invites and we crossed our fingers that 12 eight years olds could hold a secret 4 days for Amy! If I was able to talk to their mother's I suggested not telling their child until the day of the party!

You won't believe it! All those girls kept the secret and Amy had a genuine SURPRISE PARTY!! It was so fun!

We had Amy and Katelyn go down to play at the Warburton's until all the girls arrived. Then I called Amy and told her she had to come home to help babysit. I had her friends hiding behind the kitchen bar with confetti to throw. When they heard her come in the garage door they jumped up and yelled SURPRISE!!! It was awesome and Amy turned bright red!

We headed down to the basement for the games. I can't remember all the names now, but I think they had a good time. Then back upstairs for a brownie cake and presents.

Good thing we had this huge party for Amy because on her actual birthday later that week she was really sick!
I hope this party made up for the "Worst Birthday Ever" that I gave her last year!

Fall Soccer

Brigham impressed Katelyn and Amy so much this past spring they decided they wanted to try soccer too! So we lived at the soccer fields for the first couple of months of fall. I also just signed up my oldest FOUR all for soccer this next spring!

Marcia and LeGrand were able to come to one of Briggy's games so we got some great pictures. I love the picture of him worried on the sidelines. He didn't like it much when his coach made him sub out because then his team was vulnerable. He was a ball of nerves the whole time he sat on the sidelines. Then he would jump back in and head for the goal!!

Christian, Jessie and Tyler were good sports to follow everyone down to the fields all week. There was a great play ground nearby and that was fun to play on during the games!

This was Katelyn and Amy's first time playing soccer. They both did really well for being newbies. Katelyn had some tough opponents, but managed to hang in there, learned a lot and got one victory. Amy was the sole scorer in one of her victorious games and had some other goals as well.

It was a great season!

For Amy's 9th Birthday

She got a gift certificate to get her ears pierced! She did great and looks beautiful!

JNB: Broken Humerus

All that gettin' jiggy with it sent Jessie off the counter this past week.

I set her in her Bumbo on the counter and went to the fridge to get her lunch and she arched out of the Bumbo onto the tile floor. I was looking for signs of a head injury, but later that afternoon I noticed her left arm was pretty limp. We waited a few days to see what would happen and took her in. Poor baby has a buckle fracture on her left humerus. She is doing well and is just a good baby you would never know it!

Halloween 2011

There was NO school on Monday Oct 31... HALLOWEEN!!!

So we went to Gardner Village, went trick or treating in downtown Bountiful, had our annual spooky dinner and then went out to scour the neighborhood for candy.

This year we started up the hill near the house where two very cute boys that our daughters have huge crushes on live (the LeFevres).

The weather couldn't have been any better.

The LOOT- I think this year sets an all time record!

Toot Little naughty .. I mean nice Puppy

Jessie gettin' Jiggy

6 months old and this girl is on the move. I will say if someone stuck me on a leather sofa in footed fleece jammies I would be slippin' and slidin' too.
This is typically what happens now when we set Jessie down somewhere. She loves to go after remotes, iPods and phones!!

Witches, witches and more witches

We took our annual jaunt down to visit the ladies at Gardner Village. Always so fun to see how they display the witches and all the fun Halloween decor.

School Halloween Parade

This is always an exciting event for the kids at our school. The principal really gets into it! This year she was Ursula (from Little Mermaid) and the office secretaries were those little gray sea creatures that had made a deal with her. It was awesome!
Right at the beginning of school the kids put on a parade through the cafeteria for their families. It is so fun to see what all the kids have dressed up for Halloween!
Tyler was a football player.

Tyler with his 1st Grade Class

Katelyn and her 5th grade friends. Katelyn was an "Awesome person". I think she has lost the Halloween spirit.

Amy and her 3rd grades friends. Amy was Smurfette.

UEA Halloween Rec Center Party

We had a small crew for the Rec Center Party this year! Mike took an insistent Brigham through the "big kids" haunted hallway. There was a girl about the age of 11 balling her eyes out at the entrance and an employee ensuring her that nothing was real inside there or nothing would hurt her family while they were in there. That made Briggy more excited to go in. He is our child that has no fear of running away.

Then we fished ducks out of the lazy river. Walked around and looked at a lot of other games. As we were walking Christian held real tight to our legs especially when someone in a mask was approaching.

The boys loved the doughnut on a string.

Is this picture great or what? You can see the bean bag almost ready to knock down the owl. This was after I had already been hit in the face because of standing where I was for a good pic. I think Jessie might have gotten hit too.

The best of the evening was the ride through the creepy swamp. The boys saw a mermaid.

Pumpkins!!

I put it off to long and we had a wild, wild night of pumpkins!
Choosing, hauling (2 carts), buying, designing, gutting and finally... CARVING!!
They turned out pretty good!

Christian had a knife in one hand and was hammering it with a spoon in his other hand.
