The Car Graveyard 10.9.11

When Brigham and I were looking through old pictures he saw when we first went to the "car graveyard" and wanted to go back. So after church one Sunday we headed up by the "B" on the mountain to hike up to the cars.

We don't know how exactly all the cars, trucks, snowmobiles, bikes, grocery carts and various appliances crashed down the gorge, but it sure is fun to imagine. The downside is most of the kiddie slept in our room that night because of bad dreams. Who said driving off a cliff wasn't scary!
I remember when Mike and I were first married and we took Jodi and Jill up in the Jeep on the same road and Jodi cried because she was scared we were going to fall off the road down into the gorge.

So we stay safe and hike up the creek to see the destruction.

Happy Birthday Ty Guy! 10.2.11

(Yes this post is waaayyyy after the fact, but still needs to be done for Tyler's and history's sake!)

Way back in the beginning of October we celebrated Tyler's 7th Birthday!! Can you believe he is SEVEN already?!!! Next year he will get baptized! Time flies!

Tyler's birthday usually falls on Conference weekend which means we get to hang out as a family, but usually we are going too many places. So we did have a busy weekend and Mike had his family over for turkey and fixins' on Ty's birthday. I asked Tyler what he wanted for a cake and that week he was really into skateboards so we built him a skateboard ramp cake. He thought it was pretty cool and it tasted yummy- I thought.

Tyler asked for a Rip Stick for his birthday. I have a lot of video of him riding it outside, but no still pictures. The kid is amazing to be able to ride that tricky board and he has pretty much mastered it. He spends a good amount of time trying to do some new trick or go down a hill or something way to scary for his mom to watch.

Conference Weekend 10.01.11

Since we thought Midway was so beautiful, Mike wanted to show the kids. We squeezed in a drive and a hike between sessions on Saturday. I like to think of the trail we hiked as the "Shark Cove" of trails. It was difficult and scary, but beautiful nonetheless.

I swear the air is clean and crisp up there in the mountains. Just a pleasure to breathe.

Christiannnn Morleyyy!!!!!

What has he done now?
Chalk all over the van and him?
Wrote with blue crayon in the new unsealed grout in the kitchen?
Lost the iPod?
Made Jessie cry?
Climbed up,got a new bag of powdered sugar and sliced it open with scissors?

Squeezed the whole tube of Desitin on himself and the driveway?

Bugging Brigham? Christian loves to wrestle!

He is a little helper. I have been trying to get the yard ready for winter and he is always one step ahead of me taking the tool I need next. It takes me a good 5 minutes to negotiate the tool back.

Bless his heart. He is such a social butterfly and it just kills him when Brigham watches TV all day or goes to school and Mommy has to be cleaning his messes and taking care of Jessie. How is that fun?!!!

When we were trimming trees I would give him a little branch to take to the trailer and he would return to me for more huffing and puffing- hold out his little hand and say, "High five Mom!" Pulls at my heart strings for a couple of minutes until his next naughty activity.

I am so glad when Daddy comes home... glad as I can be..
to give Christian some love.

R&R

Mike and I have been able to escape the craziness of our lives for a couple of minutes in this last month or so..

We went to see Rascal Flatts at Usana Amphitheatre and Sara Evans opened for them. The evening was beautiful and the concert was awesome. The company wasn't too bad either!! ;)

I didn't even really know who Sara Evans was, but recognized a few of her songs when she sang them and now love many more songs.

Mike had bought a KSL Deal in the spring and it was time to use it! One night stay at The Homestead in Midway, UT and 18 holes for Two! Mike said I had parted the Red Sea (with what was going on at work). We were able to sneak in some great golf and a night in the hotel with Jessie. Thanks to Ronster and B&L for babysitting our rascals!!

The leaves were turning and the mountains were just gorgeous!

The course was beautiful. We had no one in our group and no one rushing us. The carts had GPS on them and that was something I had never used before. The course was a good array of skills, but the greens were killers.

Yes folks... that is two phones. He was texting on his while talking on mine.

Jessie got to take a dip in the hot springs that make The Homestead famous.

Brigham in Preshtool!

It was really hard to wait, but finally Brigham's first day of preschool has arrived!!!

This picture makes me laugh! This is poor little Christian always trying to get piece of attention.

Of course, Christian wanted to go to school as well. He is really going to miss having Brigham around to play with or take up that void that mom likes to create.

Show me your excited for school face!!

That is one handsome preschooler.

He is going to school at a ladies home up the hill that has taught preschool for over 20 years in her basement. She has a nice little set up and came highly recommended by some neighbors.

"At the end of the day" (a phrase his father uses again and again)this little guy was pooped! At 5:30pm I fed him dinner and he was out. You can see his skeleton that he brought home from school on the counter in front of him. He had been sharing with Amy what he had learned about the human body while he was waiting for dinner to be fixed.

It was a great first day!

Labor Day at Ensign Peak

We decided to venture on a hike on Mondee morning and what better place to see the valley than from Ensign Peak.
Mike and I hadn't been there since we were engaged. There are a few more people in the picture now.

The weather was perfect and we made the hike before the sun came over the mountain to warm us up.

What is a hike without some rock collecting and....
Katelyn's "Broken Heart"
Chichen's wocks

rock throwing!!!
We couldn't go to the next trailmarker until Christian had hit the sign with a rock and made it "DING!"

Then we headed to Grand America for a grand breakfast and some frolicking in the gardens.
It was a great Labor Day!

Jill & Michael Garlick

Jill and Michael have tied the knot!

August 26, 2011 Draper Temple

It was a wonderful week of family and festivities. My favorite was the temple session Wednesday night with Jill. Always so special to see that much family together in a sacred place. I have a testimony of the Plan of Salvation.

It is always fun when the cousins get together.

Welcome to the family Michael!!
