This Is The place

It is a real treat for us to go to This is The Place every summer. Again this year we had a family in our ward volunteer at one of the houses so we went to go visit them. It is fun to see them in their costumes and hear all the knew information they have learned about their tour house and what it was like to be in that house and that family.

The kids got to make rag dolls and learned that 4 adult men, complete strangers, would sleep in one full size bed inside of this "motel".

We visited the livery and rode the ponies.

Practiced our milking skills

The Blacksmith

Riding the "train: around the park. We had quite the entertaining tour guide

Made arrowhead necklaces with a descendant of the Utes

Panned for lots of gold. Loved Ty's strategy- had to get out their in areas where other kids can't, I suppose.

Saying farewell from The Brooklyn

Another train ride for Jess around the pond.

Brigham's Home
We learned this time that the house was painted pink because back then  pick was a masculine color.

Love this pic of sisters listening to the tour guide.

Touching the Declaration of Independence in the printing shop. We were there a few days before
July 4th so this was hot off the press and Brigs got to take one home. He thought that was real special.

This year they had a new splash pad the kids played in to cool off. Jess was mesmerized by the Indian dancer playing in the water.

Gpa Hal's funeral was as good as funerals can be. It is a sad time, but I was glad to know he wasn't in pain or misery any longer. I will miss his tight, tight hugs. I learned so much more about him after his passing. His desire to be a pilot. His career and schooling. How he supported his family. I am so grateful to my grandfather for joining the true, restored church of Jesus Christ. For blessing our lives with the priesthood and his righteous example. He never served a mission because he joined the church later in life, but  he was on a life long mission to bring people unto Christ.

It was good to see all the family. I hadn't seen many people since I was a teenager and it had been over 6 years since I had been down south. Blame it all on my roots...

Tyler- MP Allstars

After finishing 2nd place in the rec season Ty decided he wanted to keep playing baseball. He tried out and made the All Star team for Mueller Park. He started with one team and then finished with another. The 1st team had him pitch and play short. In one tournament he pitched 9 innings and did a great job.

On the 2nd team, he pitched a little, caught a little and played outfield. It was good practice and he made some friends.

Baseball Summer

Another great summer season of baseball! Brig played coach pitch and his team was undefeated. Brig played 3rd base most of the time, but I think his favorite was playing 1st base. He did a great job at batting and even got a homerun one game.

This year was Mr. C's first time playing Tball. he has been to many of games, but never actually played. He was so excited that he was FINALLY up to bat!!

Can you believe I don't have one picture of him playing?!!!! I feel so bad. He was a good ball player. His coach would pitch to him and C got three chances to hit the coach pitch and if he missed he got to hit off the tee. C could really hit out there! He would want a "HOMERUN" so bad that he would pass up the other players (looking at planes in the sky or eating their boogers) in front of him just so he could get to home plate before the other team got the ball in. It was great!

I think we will have some more ball players!

4 Wheeling by Mantua

For Memorial Day, we headed up to Mantua (pronounce it as you wish) with some good friends to explore the area. It was beautiful! Lots of other people had the same idea. we were hoping to get to the top of the mountain and look over into Ogden, but there was still too much snow.

two budding teenagers with lots of attitude
the Allreds are good 4 wheeling buddies
 Mr. C catching some Z's

 You could see forever
A good game of baseball and then a wind tornado kicked up right by the smoldering fire!

The wildflowers in all of our trips this year have been amazing!
