RV-ing It

For quite awhile Mike had been itching to do a trip in an RV. To tell you the truth so had I. We used to head up the mountain in my aunt and uncle's motor home and I had such a good time when I was young. When Dan and Mike came up with the plan an RV sounded like a great idea.

To Prepare for the trip we got the DVD "RV" starring Robin Williams. If you haven't seen it we highly recommend -RV experience or not! Pretty funny stuff!
We were hoping for the opposite experiences of the Munro family.

"We got a new van and it even has a potty in it!"-Christian

Yes, it did have a potty and a good shower and both got used.

We had most of our meals in the RV. Full kitchen really. Even a microwave for Briggy's chicken nuggets. It was great to have all our snacks right there with us.

The first night we stayed at Ft Stevens Park. Come to find out there was a small camper part of the park and a large RV part. naturally we had reserved a spot in the smaller camper part so when we came rolling in with our big rig we turned a lot of heads. Daniel parked that thing "like a glove" and even left room for the pop out.
The next morning we were still the spectacle when pulling out for our next big adventure. While we were gone during the day we got some new neighbors and they were speechless when Daniel pulled in again with his exhaust pipe about 2 inches from the front door of their tent. Good times!

We pulled out all the beds and laid down the foam mattresses when it was time to sleep. So sad I didn't get a picture of all the carnage, but there wasn't really place to step! It was nice for the kids to nap while we were traveling to our next adventure.

It was fun being all together!

Thank goodness for all the electronic devices that entertained us!

Another One Bites the Dust

I guess that would have a bad connotation... this wedding was a good thing!!
Katie Denkers has now become Mrs. Matthew Lloyd.

The temple sealing was beautiful. The sealer gave some great insights that are such a treat for us old married folks. It was great to have all my sisters there in the temple!

We had a fun time with all the family in town. We met on Friday before the wedding to set up their reception at The Davis County Golf Course in Fruit Heights. Katie knew exactly what she wanted and it was all beautiful.

It was a beached them wedding.

Katie was showing us how to tie the sashes on the chairs.
Hadley helping hand out the sashes

The kids loved the dance floor.
Great Grandpa Hal was supervising us all.
It has been fun to spend time with Great Grandma Midge. She was here in Utah for a knee replacement and was healed in time to attend the wedding festivities

Cherry Hill Rocks!

Aug 22, 2012
Every summer the kids make a wish list of Summer Activities and Cherry Hill made the list again!
It was neat to see what the kids could do this summer since they had grown!
I love this picture with B running up the stairs. he was so excited to go on Cardiac Canyon! K carried his tube and took care of him until he got the hang of it all. By the end of the day he was good to go down any slide all by himself.

The kids LOVE the lazy river! At a certain time every hour there i a little sound recording that stats and the water guns and buckets are synchronized to it all. The lids love to get squirted and wet.

I don't have many pictures of everything because I had kids all over the place and J trying to wiggle out of my arms the whole time. She is a water bug too.

We were all happy when she fell asleep!

The Dragon Slide Our favorite!

The Boys trying their hand at the Sword in The Stone!

Maybe they will get up enough guts to go to Lagoon next year!

Oregon Coast Day 4

Mike, Katelyn and Tyler were up at 5am and headed out on a fishing trip on the Columbia River. The rest of us got up and packed all the bedding away and Daniel took us into Seaside to ride the carousel, get some souvenirs, and eat some chocolate dipped Twinkies!

The kids loved the Seaside Carousel!

The Hat Store was a hit! Brigham spent his "whole money" on Capt. Jack Sparrow hat!
Jessie tried on some wigs and hats too.

Mike, Katelyn and Tyler caught some huge Chinook Salmon.

We headed back to Pasco in a hurry through Washington to try to return the RV on time. The ride was twisty and bumby so much so that the TV began to bump loose. We wish we would have known earlier that the RV guys would give us some more time so we could stop and see the mountains and lakes of Washington. We got a glance of Mt. Rainer and Mt. St. Helen's. The picture says it all!

We got back to Daniel and Brook's and got everything unpacked, repacked and cleaned. We cooked up some yummy salmon and visited a bit more before we headed back to UT.
Thanks to Daniel and Brook for putting up with our crazy crew! We had a good time and it was so cool to see the Pacific Northwest! Thanks again!

Oregon Coast Day 3

Friday. Aug 10th
Lewis and Clark State Park and Fort Clatsop
This is where Lewis and Clark camped near the mouth of the Columbia after they befriended the Indians. It was a great little stop and we learned a lot from the volunteers dressed in period clothing that were giving demonstrations.

This is what the kids mostly did while we traveled from place to place.
What would we do without iPods and DVDs?

Ecola State Park
Brook wrote the following: "There was a sign driving up to this look out that said "Trailers not recommended, Narrow road" I must have been the only one who saw it, because we kept driving. Daniel drove the 30 foot bus up the narrow road, driving inches from the edge of the road and almost crushing smaller vehicles. Then came the sign that said "Dip in the Road". There was no way back, couldn't turn around so forward ho! Mike got out and inched us forward. It was well worth it for these 2 pictures of Cannon Beach"

From Goonies

There was a huge elk by the parking lot.

We lost a Brigham, but gained a Porter!

For those of you that are nuts about The Goonies like I am you would be interested to know that the Restaurant on the Bloom where the Fratellis were hiding out at was just a set. Built here in the grass at Ecola State Park and later taken down after filming.

Tillamook Rock Lighthouse

Canon Beach

Home of the famous Haystack Rock. I read somewhere it is one of the most photographed rocks in the world!

In the movie Goonies the Fratellis drive down this road and onto Canon Beach to join a 4X4 race going on the beach to escape the cops.

Some much deserved rest for Mike.

Frolicking

Burrying each other in the sand

The water was quite chilly and the wind was blowing so I guess it felt nice and warm to be buried in the sand.

In Seaside and Canon Beach the flowers all over town were just beautiful. I suppose it is all that moisture! I just loved the hydrangeas that were so vibrant!
We finished off the fun day with some dinner in town because Mike's had to get some fishing licenses for the next day. We parked that night in the parking lot for the fishing charter and did a little fishing there on the dock, but didn't catch anything.
