Ty's bike accident

His spirits are high and he was back out on his bike the next morning.

Adam's Falls, UT

9.27.08 Adam's Falls is up a canyon just north of Fruit Heights, UT.

Fall has begun and the leaves are starting to turn colors on the mountain. We got up early and started before the sun came over the mountain. It took us two hours to get to the falls. We followed the stream most of the way and climbed up lots of rocks. The kids were troopers! Took us 1 hour to get down and we even got to see a horse on the way out. The weather was perfect and the surroundings were breathtaking.

P.S. We hiked these falls when we first got our Kelty backpack and Katelyn was 4 months old. 7 years ago!

My Quirks (for Cari)

I thought of some on my own, but had to turn to Mike for the rest.

1. I actually speed up to park a car. I wip into parking spaces with speed and percision. This always frightens Mike.

2. Eggs always have to be evenly placed in the carton.

3. I cut off the top of chip bags when the bag is close to being empty. So I don't have to reach far into a bag and get chip mess all over my knuckles.

4.As I hang my family's clothes in their closets I sort them in different ways. For awhile I hung the girl's in rainbow order. The boys: winter tops, then pants, then short sleeve shirts. Mine is newly purchased to old and I haven't gotten a hold of Mike's yet since we have been in UT.

5. I do not step on any grate covered holes that are in the ground (ie. parking lot drains). Stems from a childhood fear of pool drains.

6. I ALWAYS put lotion on my elbows after a shower.

Car Graveyard

9.21.08 After climbing up to the "B" the kids decided they needed more adventure. We found a stream to follow up the mountain. A little bit of water, a lot of shot gun shells and some litter here and there. Then we turned the corner and hit the mother load of all treasures! We all have our theories, but whatever they may be the fact remains- these automobiles were not supposed to be here. It was fascinating!

We touched the "B"!!

Part of our Bountiful initiation was to climb the mountain and touch the "B".

(For those of you that aren't from out west let me explain. To mark their territory, cities or schools or colleges will put a huge letter representing their school up on the mountain. There is a large "Y" on the mountain down in Provo, UT for BYU. Right above the University of Utah there is a large "U" on the mountain. Here in Bountiful there is a large cement "B" painted white up on the mountain for Bountiful and the Bountiful High School Braves.)

Mike got us up early on Sunday morning and we headed up the mountain to find the "B". It was very easy to go up. A bit hard on the way down, but the satisfaction was worth it.

Tyler is missing...again

I had bought a bag of lunch size chips for Katelyn's school lunches and had hidden then in several places in the kitchen so only I would know the locations. Tyler found some Cheetos and hid in the laundry room. I found him, scolded him, but let him continue to eat. Then I thought Tyler is still missing. I went to the laundry room again and he was asleep. So I finished off the bag of Cheetos!
P.S. Last night he skidded under his bike down the hill to our house. Hence the nose and knee wounds.

Happy Birthday Ronni!

David thought the personalized cake was yummy!

Ronni had the best birthday ever!!!

The smell of a campfire

Friday Sept 19, 2008

I asked the kids what their favorite thing about camping was:
Tyler, "Smarshmellows"
Katelyn, "Fire"
Amy, "Marshmellows"

So... as soon as Mike got home from work on Friday we headed up Mueller Canyon and built us a nice fire for roasting "smarshmellows". Katelyn brought along her trusty rope to assist everyone in their adventures for treasures. Mike brought along the bikes and they rode around a bit to wear off the sugar. We had a grand time!

Seize the Opportunity

I finally put all new fresh batteries in Tyler’s remote control 4 wheeler- something I had been promising to do for about a year. Tyler played with it all day and wouldn’t let anyone near it. He even yelled at me for picking it up and turning it around. So Tyler went to sleep 30 mins before Briggy tonight. Briggy spotted the abandoned 4-wheeler downstairs and seized the opportunity to divulge. He was having so much fun with it that he couldn’t stand to let it go even while sleeping.

Go Cougars!!

The college football bug has bitten us. We gathered our BYU attire and headed down to Provo for BYU’s first games of the season. The sun was shining and it was “warm”, but nothing compared to FL heat. The kids did well as long as all the grandparents around us keep feeding them treats. We all learned the fight song. BYU won and we had a great time. Ra ra ra gooooooooooo Cougars!
